THE ANDY BLANKENBUEHLER THEATRE DANCE INTENSIVE

Over the course of this 2 day theatre dance intensive , Andy will analyze many styles of music and explore the exciting ways of bringing that music to life through movement.  As a class you will break down the many ways in which your technique can be used to create stunning detail. You will dance many diverse pieces of choreography exploring different styles and genres of musical theatre.  Whether through an entire combination or an across the floor exercise Andy will  teach you how to effectively tell a story through dance.

Choreographer Notes:
"From the feel of a drumstick hitting a rim, to the winding chase of a 1940’s clarinet, our body and performance must react to the differences within an orchestration.  Through the work of greats like Robbins, Fosse and Fred Astaire, we’ve seen how particular styles of movement can absolutely crystallize an emotional moment.  We’ve seen the power of lyrics coming to life through movement. The angst of Cool…the attitude of Rich Man’s Frug…the exuberance of Shine On My Shoes….those works have inspired me throughout my career. 

I am looking forward to an entire weekend of dance, with a new and diverse style every hour!"
