Helga Wong
A native New Yorker, has taught ballet at Manhattan Ballet School, Ballet Hispanico and Abron Arts Center. In addition, she is the ballet coach for the Junior Rhythmic Olympics team at the Taiwan Center in Flushing.
Helga was trained at the Joffrey Ballet School and has a B.A. from Queens College. She has danced with Catanach Ballet Theater, Urban Ballet Theater, Staten Island Ballet and with various small concert groups touring throughout Europe. In 2001 Miss Wong was a guest of Laura Alonso and worked with her company for 2 months.

Class Description
The class is geared to building a basic ballet vocabulary, with a focus on new steps, direction, placement, rhythm and coordination. Steps will be broken down to very basic levels with movement, musicality and placement stressed, while physiological understanding of placement is emphasized. The class is geared towards people who have never had ballet or professionals who need to rework and clean up technique. The goal of this class is to safely move the person who has never had ballet into a beginner class, or for the professional to clean up and strengthen technique. All levels are welcome.

Class Description
The class starts in flat shoes with a half hour barre to warm up. Then another half hour pointe barre followed by center work. The class focuses on technique and working through the shoe, releves and turns, bourees and other pointe specific steps. No previous pointe work is required. However, strength is required for pointe work and if the instructor feels that the work may possibly injure a student, she reserves the right to ask you to take your shoes off. This is a co-ed class.
