Ginger Cox
Class description
A dancer, choreographer and teacher, Ginger Cox's multifaceted career has taken her all over the world. Ginger holds a B.F.A. in Dance from Temple University and has taught with the Alvin Ailey Arts/Education Program and at teachers'  workshops and conventions throughout the U.S. Her dynamic style and diverse range of choreography inspires students of all levels.
The artistic director of LiNK! the Movement, Ginger choreographs for film, industrials, stage and sports. Choreography credits include NIKE Shox, the independent film Reflections, the NJ Nets Dancers and DRA Remember Projects. Ginger was chosen to present work in the Elan Awards, honoring Mr. Lar Lubavich.
She has performed on Saturday Night Live with Molly Shannon and Jimmy Falon, at Radio City Music Hall with Lou Bega and with recording artist Hannah Jones.
Ginger's company, LiNK, presents an electrifying repertoire without borders, and has performed to sold-out audiences at an array of theaters and festivals.
Ginger's class is a forum of physical and creative exploration. She applies her knowledge of anatomy and kinesiology in structuring her warm-up with a series of exercises derived from ballet, jazz and modern. Dancers build strong bodies and gain greater kinesthetic awareness about technique and movement.
Her athletic, contemporary style of choreography pushes past a conventional dance vocabulary and inspires dancers to explore their physical, technical and emotional realm. Ginger choreographs a variety of jazz styles: contemporary, lyrical, commercial, theatrical and traditional jazz. Whether using classical, pop, rock or experimental music, the combinations emphasize the relationship between the body in motion and the spirit of self-expression.
Class work consists of a series of exercises using weight exchange, balance, contractions, working off center, and core work, all emphasizing technique, stretching and conditioning. Across the floor is a series of challenging transitional and directional work. It supports the work in the combination and focuses on agility, turns, jumps, and style. Each progression has a specific intention and puts technique into action.
Whether Ginger's students are professionals, fellow teachers, or aspiring young dancers, she strives to address each dancer's needs at every level. Ginger creates a supportive atmosphere where dancers can discover their creative processes while trying something different.
